Mobile Phone Testing
|

|
Rapid Test RT-2M is a state-of-the-art audio test system that meets all the requirements of today's high-volume mobile phone production. The RT-2M provides a detailed view of the voice quality and thus the constancy of the mobile phones manufactured.
The total test time for a comprehensive test with the Rapid Test analyzer is typically below one second. RT-2M supports all standard audio measurement functions and the sophisticated rub & buzz detection of mobile phone transducers.
Regardless of the assembly sequence, the acoustical characteristics of mobile phones need to be verified. We have been working for years with the leading phone manufacturers, constantly learning and implementing their needs.

Incoming Components / Subassembly Test
Testing the quality of the incoming speakers, microphones or pre-assembled housings is important to reduce the failure rate at the final test. Sorting out defectives at this early stage is much more efficient than rejecting the costly completed phones at the end of the production line. The audio quality test typically comprises following measurements:
- Frequency response
- Sound pressure level (SPL)
- Microphone sensitivity
- Rub & Buzz of transducers

Assembled PCB Test
It is recommended to test the mobile phone PCB (printed circuit board) after its production or before inserting the board into the mobile phone housing. Missing or defective components, passive components with wrong value and PCB errors can be detected in this manner. The test typically measures the following parameters:
- Frequency Response
- Gain Response
- Distortion
- Noise
- DTMF coding

Final Acoustic Testing
RAPID TEST is ideally suited for the acoustic testing of speakers and microphones of mobile phones. The optional Rub and Buzz detection ensures a 100% correlation to the human ear, so making tests by human operators redundant. It is the first solution that enables the manufacturers to conduct an automated reliable quality test. The system includes phantom power supply for the measurement microphone. The typical test cycle time is < 1 second incl. a patented noise cancellation algorithm immunizing the measurement process against factory noise. The audio quality test typically comprises of the following measurements:
- Frequency response
- Sound pressure level (SPL)
- Microphone sensitivity
- Rub & Buzz of transducers
- Loudness Rating

Ringer Testing
Rapid Test RT-2M detects the level and frequency of ringer tones even in narrow bands, and calculates the absolute sound pressure level (SPL) by using NTI's 1/2" measuring microphone M2010. There is no need for an external amplifier or power supply as the microphone can be connected directly to the input of the RT-2M.

Vibration Alert Testing
RT-2M together with a vibration sensor (NTI accessory) reliably detects the function of the vibra call activator. It takes about 500 ms to measure the vibration energy and frequency to make a pass/fail decision. A direct conversion into acceleration (either m/s2 or # of G) or into RPM (revolutions per minute) can easily be calculated.

Melody Analyzer
RAPID-TEST offers a unique feature to verify conventional and polyphonic ringer melodies as well as music sequences. State-of-the-art mobile phones provide record & replay complex melody sequences. Subtle degradations are easily audible, but hard to detect by conventional test instruments. The PureSound correlation analysis allows comparing and rating any measured sound pattern against the former recorded reference sample. The queried result is a direct measurement of the perceived audio signal similarities and is expressed in percent, ranging from 0% (no correlation) to 100% (signals are identical).

DTMF Keypad Analysis
RT-2M supports full DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) functionality, used for telephone frequency dialing. The RT-2M generates and also decodes DTMF signals according to the specific requirements of the ITU Q.24 DTMF standard for detailed frequency and level analysis. DTMF stimulation of the DUT (Device Under Test) by standard and de-tuned DTMF tones is supported. Furthermore a detailed frequency & amplitude analysis of DTMF tones generated by the DUT can be carried out.
