Speaker/Transducer Testing
|

|
The PureSound Speaker Test System is a comprehensive test solution with a unique and reliable defects analysis. The objective Rub & Buzz analysis correlates 100% to the subjective perception of the human ear. The typical cycle time for a complete speaker test is less than two seconds.

Telecom Transducer Testing
Telecom transducers are very small yet important components in modern mobile phones. Their naturally high error-rate jacks up the waste material cost if not tested for their acoustical performance. Therefore the transducers are typically tested before and/or after its mechanical assembly into the phone housing.
Artificial ears (type IEC-318 or IEC-711) are often used to simulate real life acoustics conditions of the mobile phone at the human ear. This ensures proper acoustical performance and accurate absolute measurements.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSound incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- RT-IB Impedance Test Box
- M2010 Measurement Microphone
- PureSound Amplifier
- Environmental Sensor
- Artificial Ear (Type IEC 318 or IEC 711)

Driver QC Testing
The PureSound speaker test system evaluates the complete performance of woofers, mid-range, tweeters and full range utility drivers. Especially sub-woofers with large mechanical dimensions are challenging objects for quality control. The transfer function and acoustical performance needs to be measured in axis from the front. A woofer with its big membrane area and low frequency characteristics acts more or less like a piston with very large excursions.
It is obvious that manufacturing defects are best audible close to the motor itself. The front microphone inside the test box is shielded by the membrane thus not very effective. RT-Speaker supports the Rub & Buzz measurements using a second back mounted measurements microphone for maximized sensitivity.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSound incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- RT-IB Impedance Test Box
- M2010 Measurement Microphone (2x)
- PureSound Amplifier
- Environmental Sensor
- DC Resistance Measurement Kit

Passive Speaker Cabinet Testing
The PureSound speaker test system evaluates the complete performance of passive speaker cabinets. The impedance measurement functionality records the combined impedance plot and identifies applicable multiple resonance frequencies. Each of the drivers will be probed for correct polarity as well.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSoundTM incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- RT-IB Impedance Test Box
- M2010 Measurement Microphone
- PureSound Amplifier
- Environmental Sensor

Active Speaker Cabinet Testing
The PureSound speaker test system evaluates the complete performance of passive speaker cabinets.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSoundTM incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- M2010 Measurement Microphone
- Environmental Sensor

Stereo Appliance Testing
The sequencer capability of RT-Speaker supports sequential testing of multiple inputs to either electrical or acoustical outputs in any combination. Such a set-up verifies multiple input channels of the DUT (Line, Aux, Microphone,...) in combination with the direct acoustical behaviour (Left+Right speakers) of the device.
Additional microphones or vibration sensors may probe for housing vibrations or loose grids. One or more Input- and Output Switchers may be integrated for comprehensive matrix testing.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSound incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- M2010 Measurement Microphone (2x)
- OS-0210 Output Switcher
- Environmental Sensor

100V Speaker Testing
The PureSound speaker test system allows impedance response- & resonance frequency testing of 100 Volt speakers, which are often used in public address systems. Lower speaker test voltages, such as 75V, 50V, 25V are also supported.
In the past the speaker and the 100V transformer had to be tested seperately as individual components. The complete assembly could not be tested. Assembling faults often have been detected at the actual speaker installation on-site only.
Now NTi Audio offers the all-in-one solution testing the complete assembled 100V speaker with transformer within typ. 3 seconds. The Impendance Box RT-IB 100V enables impedance measurements up to 30 kohm, allowing to test all power-taps of a 100V speaker transformer.
System Requirements:
- RT-2M Audio Analyzer
- PureSound incl. RT-Speaker Test Software
- M2010 Measurement Microphone (2x)
- RT-IB 100V Impedance Box
- Environmental Sensor
