Introduction to the FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer

FX100 Loudspeaker QC System

Analysis of an Externally Generated GlideSweep

The FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer is capable of easy and fast measurements of smart devices that do not have an audio input, such as mobile phones, tablet computers, MP3 players, medical and household appliances.

How to perform the measurement?
  • Use the FX-Control PC software to create a proprietary glide-sweep test signal based on your chosen sweep parameters.
  • Save this test signal to your Device Under Test (DUT) in mp3 or wav file format.
  • Play the signal from your DUT. The FX100 will synchronize and start analyzing the GlideSweep signal.
  • In a closed-loop setup, i.e. where an audio input channel is available, the test signal is generated by the FX100 generator while, at the same time, the FX100 analyzes the results.
  • This can be used to characterize audio parameters of communication channels with significant signal latency, such as VoIP systems. The channel latency is available as a measurement parameter.

FX100 for Digital Audio

The FX-AES plug-in board extends the functionality of the FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer by offering A-D, D-A and D-D cross-domain measurements. It supports AES3, AES3id, S/PDIF and TOSLINK interfaces with a freely selectable sampling rate up to 192 kHz and a sync input for external clock sources.

Testing Pro Audio Equipment

The FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer is designed for testing of Pro Audio equipment, such as loudspeakers, microphones, amplifiers, mixers and sound processors. The flexible architecture allows for numerous configurations, thus enabling measurement of such a wide range of devices. This functionality is accompanied by software products that cover every phase of the life cycle of Pro Audio equipment; R&D, QC, production, service and maintenance.

Calculation Items

The “Calculation Items” of the FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer combine previously-stored data with the latest measurements. It adds a wide range of mathematical functions, e.g.

  • Basic arithmetic operations
  • Variables
  • Unit conversion
  • Smoothing or interpolation
  • Statistics
  • Boolean results

Creating Test Sequences with FX-Control

The FX-Control PC software allows you to establish customized test procedures for the FLEXUS FX100 Audio Analyzer. Sequences can be created in an intuitive way by using graphical control elements such as user prompts, manual data input, running measurements or executables, inserting delays and exporting data to a log file or a report document. To create a sequence you do not need programming capabilities.

Microphone Testing

The RT-MicFX microphone test software supports a wide range of features and applications for verifying studio, broadcast or measuring microphones. In combination with the logarithmic GlideSweep analysis of the FX100 Audio Analyzer, the system offers outstanding measurement speed and immunity to environmental noise.

Anechoic Acoustic Measurements in a Reverberant Room

The FX100 Audio Analyzer now supports anechoic acoustic measurements under reverberant conditions. This feature delivers free-field frequency response results, even in suboptimal acoustical environments. The test is performed with a logarithmic GlideSweep.
