Accessories Specifications

The measurement microphones are optimized for a flat, free-field response in the frequency range 5 Hz - 20 kHz. Models for acoustic measurements of up to 155 dB are available.

All microphones are omni-directional and 48V phantom powered. The Sound Level Meter microphones include an electronic data sheet. The Automated Sensor Detection (ASD) of the Analyzer automatically reads this data sheet, and recognizes the microphone model, sensitivity and calibration data. This ensures accurate measurement results.

Measurement Microphones for the XL2 / XL3 Sound Level Meter

The microphones are 48 V phantom powered and include an electronic data sheet. The Automated Sensor Detection (ASD) of the Analyzer automatically reads this data, i.e. the microphone model and calibration data. This promotes faster setup and ensures accurate measurements.

The microphone bodies contain the preamplifier. They combine high dynamic range and wide frequency range with low noise. These measurement microphones connect via the ASD Cable to the Sound Level Meter e.g. for measurements at remote locations or to reduce acoustic reflections. The types M2230, M2211 and M2215 are formed by a combination of preamplifier MA220 and a dedicated microphone capsule. The M2340 is formed by the preamplifier MA230 and the microphone capsule.

Features:

  • Omni-directional, free-field microphone
  • Phantom power 48 VDC
  • Electronic data sheet installed
  • Frequency range 5 Hz - 20 kHz
  • Individual frequency response available as Excel-data
  • Optional calibration certificate

Outdoor Measurement Microphone

Outdoor Measurement Microphone

The Outdoor Measurement Microphones offer a weather-protected measurement solution for the Sound Level Meter allowing acquisition of environmental noise data in outdoor applications. The corrosion-free polymer housing, wind screen, waterrepellent membrane and bird spike provide excellent protection from rain, wind, dust and perching birds.

The Outdoor Measurement Microphones M2230-WP and M2340-WP fulfill the Class 1 requirements according to IEC 61672 and ANSI S1.4 for horizontal and vertical sound incidence. For compliance with horizontal sound incidence a spectral correction is employed in the associated Sound Level Meter. The Outdoor Measurement Microphone M4261-WP fulfills the Class 2 requirements accordingly.

The outdoor microphones consist of a measurement microphone and the applicable weather protection:

  • M2230-WP: M2230 + WP30-90/ -150 Weather Protection
  • M2340-WP: M2340 + WP30-90/ -150 Weather Protection
  • M4261-WP: M4261 + WP61 Weather Protection

Features

  • Class 1 and Class 2 Outdoor Measurement Microphones for horizontal and vertical sound incidence according IEC 61672 and ANSI S1.4
  • Excellent protection from rain and dust (IP54), wind and perching birds
  • Built from corrosion-free materials
  • Removable top section for easy microphone calibration
  • Standard tripod mount, optional pole mount

Effective outdoor protection

The 90 mm or 150 mm wind screen protects the measurement microphone from rain and dust while reducing wind-induced noise. The seamless design of the water-repellent membrane under the wind screen ensures perfect protection from rain and dust.

System self-test

The Outdoor Measurement Microphone M2340-WP is system self-test (CIC) enabled. Automated self-tests may be performed by NoiseScout, the unattended noise monitoring solution, in combination with the Sound Level Meter. This ensures reliable operation and precise measurements.

Robust design / Easy calibration

The upper section of the weather protection is snap-on mounted and can thus be easily removed by hand for manual calibration of the measurement microphone.

Low Noise Measurement Microphone M2914

The measurement microphone M2914 has a particularly low residual noise level of just 6.5 dBA and is designed for acoustic measurements of very low sound pressure levels.
