PTB Approval for XL2-TA Sound Level Meter with new Firmware V4.71

PTB Approval for XL2-TA Sound Level Meter with new Firmware V4.71

NTi Audio regularly upgrades the firmware of the XL2-TA Sound Level Meter to meet new requirements of our customers

Most recently, NTi Audio AG obtained an extension of the Type Approval certificate for the XL2-TA with the new firmware version V4.71 from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Germany. The XL2-TA Sound Level Meter with firmware V4.71 has been certified by PTB Germany for legal measurement applications.

Via NoiseScout and with the M2340, the XL2-TA supports a System Self-Test

The M2340 measuring microphone is now also part of the PTB-approved configuration. The M2340 has an internal reference signal generator and a remote switch that couples the reference signal into the signal path of the microphone to check the correct function or stability of the measuring microphone. The new firmware V4.71 supports this system self-test, which is essential for example, for periodic checks of stand-alone, continuous measuring stations.

The test signal of the microphone M2340 is a square wav signal covering the spectral range from 31.5 Hz to 20 kHz. By measuring and referencing this spectrum, even subtle defects such as dirt and moisture on the diaphragm can be detected and maintenance initiated if necessary.

Advanced Vibration Analysis in the Vibration Module

The new firmware V4.71 also supports the measurement of the vibration velocity PPV (Peak-Particle-Velocity) in the Vibration module, and calculates the peak values for each measurement.

More information on the details of the new firmware functions can be found here.
