Sound level meters measure sounds in the range of human hearing; 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The IEC61672 standard specifies two performance categories for sound level meters, class 1 and class 2. The American standard ANSI S1.4 refers to these categories as type 1 and type 2. These categories are distinguished by the measurement accuracy across the frequency spectrum and the operational range of temperatures. Class 1 instruments have tighter tolerances than lower-cost class 2 units. Precise and legal measurements require a class 1 or type 1 sound level meter.
NTi Audio offers both class 1 and class 2 solutions comprising an XL2 Analyzer together with a choice of measurement microphones.
Customers may log all acquired level information onto a removable SD card. Additionally the XL2 offers wav-file recording for a complete documentation of the measured sound pressure levels. Voice notes may also be added to each measurement.
The RTA perfectly suits tasks such as optimization of sound systems and rooms. The XL2 measures and logs wideband values and the real time spectrum in 1/1 or 1/3 octave-band resolution according to IEC 61260 class 0. The sound level meter results of the wideband and RTA spectrum are simultaneously available.
